Stephen Scourfield is the author of fiction and non-fiction books. He has been named Australia’s best travel writer. He has been a professional, fulltime writer and photographer since 1977.
In essays and short stories in his book “Connected”, published in Australia by St George Books, he follows themes that form the basis of association and belief.
His novel “Other Country”, published in Australia by Allen and Unwin, was the fiction winner in the WA Premier’s Book Awards 2007, shortlisted in the Commonwealth Writers Prize and longlisted for the 2009 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. His previous book, “Travel Etcetera: The World on Another Plane” is an interpretive global literary journey.
A recent photographic book “Western Australia: An Untamed View” contains images and text gathered over more than half a million kilometres of travel in mostly remote regions.
He is Travel Editor of The West Australian in Perth, on the west coast of Australia, and was judged Australia’s Best Travel Writer in the National Travel Industry Awards 2009. He is a recipient of a United Nations Media Award.
