Michael Furlong

Captain Michael Furlong began his seagoing career as a cadet with the Peninsula and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O): that fine old shipping company with its famous House Flag(Blue to the mast, red to the fly). Michael continued his seagoing career with 17 years in the Royal Australian Navy; then spent a further 18 years as a marine pilot at our great iron ore port of Dampier. In retirement, Michael is a compass adjuster for WA’s commercial and leisure boating community.
Throughout his life, Michael has maintained his passion for the sea and particularly the art of astronomical navigation.
