Lorna Barnett and Cathy Cocks are the Directors of Haughty Culture, a local business that specialises in finding smart solutions to garden design challenges. Their current focus is on finding ways to design stylish gardens suited to our dry climate.
Lorna’s move into garden design more than 15 years ago followed a career in advertising in Perth and Melbourne. Her passion for garden design was sparked in Melbourne and grew when she returned to Perth. She has a wealth of design knowledge combined with substantial experience in designing and implementing beautiful gardens in both Melbourne and Perth. She has completed a Certificate in Horticulture (Design) and a Certificate in Horticulture (Landscaping)
Cathy has been involved with designing and implementing gardens for the past 15 years. Prior to taking the plunge into Haughty Culture, she worked at BankWest managing a broad range of special communications projects. Cathy uses these project management skills in bringing together the horticulture projects for clients at Haughty Culture. She has a Diploma in Garden Design.
Lorna and Cathy have written garden style and design columns for the New Homes Section of the Sunday Times, and Habitat in The West Australian. They travel regularly within Australia and overseas looking at garden designs and new trends then bring back knowledge which can be applied in local conditions.
