Biblio-enthusiast Alana Marshall is delighted to return to UWA Extension for 2018 with a light and interesting
exploration of the history of the book!
From clay tablets, papyrus, wax tablets, parchment, and codices through to the evolution of printing, we will treat the book,
in a true bibliographic sense, as an object of physical glory and touch upon some of its fascinating cultural aspects.
Additionally, we will traverse the development of paper and the printing press, with some emphasis on incunabula.
In a world full of electronic information, it appears that the book is far from extinct.
