ONLINE LAW COURSE
Designed for professionals
working in law-related fields this non-assessed on-line course
will provide an understanding of the law and its application
in Australia. The material has been prepared by leading academics
from The University of Western Australian Law School and specialist
practitioners. It covers the history of law and the processes
of Australian law and will explain the principles of torts
(private or civil wrong), international law and criminal law.
The course is a series of lectures. There is no particular
sequence
although people who are very new to law are advised to follow
the sequence
in which the lectures are mounted on the web site:
History of Law,
Law Making,
Criminal Law,
Law of Torts,
International Law.
When you enrol you are provided with a password and access
for a two month period of time. During that period you are
able to access the site at any time and
work at your own pace. You can move around the lectures and
in and out of
links as you require.
It is hard to estimate how long it will take a person to go
through all the
lectures because of the ability to move around the site. The
original
lectures on campus, on which these are based, were 2 hours
each and were
held once a week. UWA Extension is therefore providing access
for up to 2
months so that you will not be pushed for time.
A UWA Extension Certificate is available on request.
