University entry with AccessUWA

The AccessUWA program enables you to study units at UWA without being enrolled in a degree.

AccessUWA is open to both domestic and international residents – we recommend that international students seek advice from the UWA International Centre before applying to AccessUWA.

Once you submit your AccessUWA application, it needs to be approved by the relevant Faculty – this is why you need to seek advice from the Faculty before applying through us.

There are two enrolment options within the AccessUWA program:

Continuing Education (with assessment)

This program is for students who wish to attend lectures, tutorials, seminars, and laboratory sessions and undertake assessment throughout the semester. You will complete units alongside UWA degree students in exactly the same way as them – the only difference is what your transcript will look like at the end of semester (the units fall under the title of ‘Continuing Education’ rather than 'Bachelor’s Degree').

You will have a student number and account, have full access to the libraries (including online resources) and participate in all classes, assignments and exams. After completing AccessUWA in this way, you may apply to enrol into a degree at UWA.

Please note that there is a small fee if you wish to receive a hard-copy Academic Transcript of your results from Student Administration at the end of the Semester.

Audit (lectures only – no online access – no assessment)

This program is for students wishing to attend lectures without participating in tutorials, fulfilling any practical requirements, undertaking assignments or sitting examinations. Audit students unfortunately do not have access to online content, as they are not issued with a student number or campus card and as such, are only able to attend lectures in person.

Deciding what to study

Not sure what unit to choose? The UWA Handbook contains all the unit descriptions, unit codes and any pre-requisites. After browsing this and selecting some units, we recommend that you contact the Faculty who can confirm your choice of units, prerequisites and advise which units could be credited towards a degree in the future.

To check if your unit is run on a suitable day and time for you then check Venue and Timetabling or you can check with the relevant Faculty or School.
